About That's a Cooler Stay

A travel planning guide covering weekend getaways, romantic trips, family vacations, budget stays and luxury travel, all built around unique Airbnbs and the kind of places you actually remember sleeping in.

Why we built this

That's a Cooler Stay is a travel planning site that covers weekend getaways, romantic trips, family vacations, budget stays and luxury travel, all built around unique Airbnbs and the kind of places you actually remember sleeping in. We started it as an SEO project at the University of Maryland to figure out how content competes in the travel search space, and we built it like a real publication. Every guide is written from scratch, sorted by trip type and budget, and aimed at people who want something better than a generic chain hotel.

We're upfront about being students doing this for a class, and we don't take paid placements or sponsored coverage. The goal is just to make a free guide that's actually useful for planning trips around unique stays.

Do you accept guest posts or sponsored content?+

No sponsored content. We occasionally publish guest essays from working hosts and operators when they add real expertise; those posts are clearly labeled.

How do you make money?+

Affiliate commissions on bookings made through some of our outbound links. We never adjust editorial coverage based on commission rates.

Can I suggest a property?+

Yes, we love tips. Email the team via the contact link in the footer with a link and a sentence on why it's worth covering.

Do you offer trip planning services?+

Not currently. Everything we publish is in the form of free guides on this site.
